Getting found

What do customers find when they look you up?

Before customers walk in, most of them search online for your trade and your town, something like ‘bakery Leeds’. What they find helps them decide whose door to walk through.

A drawn evening street seen from a café terrace: a phone with a glowing screen on the table, and across the road one lit shop with an awning next to a dark one.

Someone wants fresh bread, a new bike tyre or a painter. They pick up their phone and type what they’re after and where: ‘bakery near me’, ‘bike repair open Saturday’.

In the US, 98% of consumers surveyed looked online for information about local businesses in 2022 (BrightLocal, 2023)¹. That’s a US figure; we have no equivalent for other countries.

What does a customer see if you have no website?

Often very little. A pin on the map, perhaps with opening hours that are out of date. No prices, no photos of what you sell. And above you, the businesses that do have a website, with everything the customer wants to know.

This is what that looks like, side by side:

Example, all names made up

Someone googles ‘bakery Manchester’

Without a website and without an accurate Google Business Profile

Bakery A catches the eye first.

Your own details, with buttons to call and get directions.

Someone asks an AI assistant (ChatGPT, Gemini and the like)

Without a website

The AI names Bakery B.

With a website

The AI can quote your own information.

And if you do have a website?

Your own details. When you’re open, what you sell, what it costs. One tap to ring you or get directions. A website like that can’t promise you the top spot. But customers find what they came for, straight from you.

What we promise

What Google or an AI assistant answers isn’t ours to decide. It depends on the question. What we do is put your details online so search engines and AI assistants can find and read them. If your business fits the question, it can be part of the answer.
